Tracing the Migration of Songs Between Scotland & Ireland and North America
Ever say to yourself "I wonder where that song came from?" Sara Grey traces the migration of songs from Northern Ireland and Scotland to the US and Canada (and sometimes back again). Sara, who will be an artist in residence at the Ozark Folk School in March of 2008, will offer her workshop on 'Tracing the Migration of Songs Between Scotland & North America'. This is an interactive workshop with sung versions of comparative song variants where participants are encouraged to sing on choruses and refrains and ask questions.
The workshop is followed that evening by a concert of Traditional songs w/Sara (on banjo) and singer/guitarist Kieron Means.
the arts of a singer and of a story teller merge to produce a web of tales and songs capable of transporting an audience from a club room to the intimacy of a kitchen fireside A CrossCurrents/MVFS co-production
